CURT HARVEL: IRONMAN

Cycle Folsom is proud to announce that Curt Harvel swam, rode and ran his way through Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to become an IRONMAN!

This is an exceptional accomplishment and deserves our recognition and acknowledgement.

Please visit: http://www.cyclefolsom.com/webforms/curtharvel.aspx to see pictures and watch the movie trailer of Curt breaking the tape after a long day of battling the water, the road and little voices within to overcome and ultimately succeed.

Congratulations Curt…YOU ARE AN IROMMAN!!

Thanks everyone with CycleFolsom over the last year leading up to my Ironman. I read a book "Going Long" before my event and a main concern was coming off the bike in good enough shape to rum the marathon. If your toast off the bike, your burnt toast on the run. So I felt fine until mile 22.5 on the run before the run and walking techique came into play. So the CycleFolsom keep me on a positive progression right into my event.

I will type up a play by play of the IM event and get that posted for everyone to read.

But there is one story I will share now since I have your attention. Everyone has their current age written on the calve of the leg. So as bikes were flying by me most of the ride and my only goal was to finish, I just let them go. There were 20's, 30', 40's and a few 50's passing me all day. But I was at mile 111 of 112 and this lady goes by me only to show a 60 on her left calve. So I just saluted and I said to myself I was just thankful a couple of my co-workers we not here to witness this since I would never hear the end of it.
Then with 3/4 of a mile to go to the finish on the run guess who comes by again, yes her. I must of passed her in the transistion off the bike heading to the run. (or maybe when I tripped her, that slowed her down for a little while) because here she comes again to run passed me to win her age group by 2 hours. She won her age group at Kona last year at 59 by an hour.

But I guarantee you she didn't have a better day than I, it was awesome.

CycleFolsom Rocks!

Curt,

Now that you've whetted my appetite with your "old lady" story , I'm really looking forward to reading your "play by play." It's fun to live vicariously through people like you! Congrats! :D
