Saturday 4/18

Post rides you plan to take and are looking for riding buddies to join you.

Saturday 4/18

I built up another ride with 5 or 6 climbs that I like. I haven't strung them together before, so this should be a good one. 80 miles or so, with an option to 105 pending how I feel when hitting Folsom. The option is the Loomis Loop. Some are steep (Beatty), others are a bit longer (French Creek), some are just fun (Deer Valley). There's also Iron Point, part 1 of Serrano, and Cothrin Ranch.

I'm rolling out from my house in Rancho at 9am. I expect to hit the Fish Hatchery/Aquatic Center around 9:40. I try to keep the speed down on the ARBT due to expected crowds.

Anyone interested in joining me?

Ride Planning

You are quite a creative and prolific ride planner! Thanks for posting up your rides and sending out the invitations for the rest of us. I'm going to have to take you up on one of your rides sometime here real soon.

Please do Steve.

I ran into some scheduling issues this past weekend and ended up not doing this ride. So I'm going to give it another go this Sunday. Last big chance to get in some miles before the Delta Century on May 3.

Sunday

I have a race on Saturday, so I don't know if I'll have the legs for your ride on Sunday. I'll probably be doing a recovery ride; but you never know.

If I don't see you, let me know how it goes!

Good luck on the Delta Century. Rough surface and high winds. Flat as a pancake.

Riding 60 miles on Saturday, so this weekend is out. Still would like to ride one of these though. Keep posting.

Thanks for the invite Oz. However, my wife and I have an agreement. Unless we get a sitter for the kids, she gets one day to ride on the weekend and I get the other. She usually chooses (she makes the $$ after all). She's chosen Saturday for this week, so I'm up for Sunday.

Why not join in? Call it a "recovery ride"

Even though it's tempting, I'll probably have to pass this Sunday. That's usually my yard work day. I've yet to ride Cothrin Ranch road mainly because of the traffic and lack of shoulder on Latrobe road but I've seen some of the pictures and it looks like a great road.

We need to merge some of the CycleFolsom rides with some of your rides to come up with some new routes. Let me know if you're interested.

Congratulations on the weight loss and your increase in cycling fitness! You're getting some serious rides in. :-)

We could do that. I'll probably get dropped through :? Do you regroup periodically?

Absolutely!

Even though its officially a "no sweep" ride, we have a good bunch of guys who regroup at key locations(i.e., top of certain hills, rest stops, etc). We enjoy riding "together" even though there are various levels within the group. Stronger flat roads riders tend to come to the front and pull more often and longer and those that are stronger climbers wait at the top of the hills.

Keep an eye out for our ride schedules and routes and hope to see you again soon. We have a ride this weekend but will probably not schedule a ride for next weekend due to the majority of us doing the Grizzly Peak Century in preparation for the Death Ride. Are you signed up for either of those?

I'm glad to hear about the regrouping. That will make me a lot more comfortable with joining the group.

I'm on the e-mail list that Steve sends out, so I keep an eye on the rides. However the "no sweep" part had me concerned that I'd be dropped and never seen again. I won't worry about that any more.

I'm not doing either of those rides. I am riding the Delta Century on May 3.

And on the 23'rd I'm leading a century ride for a bunch of folks from bikeforums.net. It's not a big climbing ride, but should be a fun time with a good group. We're going to do a ride up Iron Point, R on Bidwell, Loop around to come up White Rock/Silva Valley, over Serrano 2, Bass Lake to Green Valley to Folsom, then up ride over Chili Hill and back. Lunch in there somewhere. Always room for more.
